The drilling equipment used by the first two generations of
our family was quite crude and slow, perhaps drilling only a few inches a day
(see the HISTORY page for an old drilling rig picture). Time and
technology have changed this considerably. The modern machines of today are able to penetrate at
unbelievable speeds through the granite, metamorphic, and hard limestone rocks that exist in this area,
and wells can be developed to their maximum potential in only a few hours.
